Yet drink spiking remains an ongoing concern, leaving many individuals feeling vulnerable in social settings. While awareness has grown in recent years, access to simple and reliable tools that help people protect themselves has often remained limited.
Determined to help change that, Abigail Goddard founded Spikey during her junior year of high school. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the company was created with a clear mission: to empower individuals with a quick, discreet, and accessible way to test their drinks for common drink-spiking drugs, giving people greater confidence and peace of mind wherever they go.
What began as a student-led idea has grown into an award-winning venture focused on both innovation and advocacy. Through easy-to-use drink safety test strips, educational outreach, and partnerships with universities and organizations, Spikey is helping raise awareness about drink spiking while providing practical solutions that encourage safer social environments.
Today, Spikey has distributed more than 25,000 test strips, generated over $49,000 in revenue, partnered with 13 universities and organizations, and raised more than $52,000 through pitch competitions to accelerate its mission. Beyond product innovation, the company has also collaborated with Tennessee lawmakers to help advance drink-spiking legislation, demonstrating how youth-led entrepreneurship can influence meaningful policy change.
Abigail's work has earned widespread recognition. She has competed in 16 pitch competitions, winning 12, and Spikey has been featured by more than 700 media outlets, including FOX, ABC, and NBC affiliates. Her journey from high school entrepreneur to incoming student at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania reflects the power of combining innovation with a commitment to public safety.
