Yet high-quality tutoring can be expensive or difficult to access, leaving many students without the guidance they need to succeed.
Determined to make academic support more accessible, Aiden Kennedy, a senior at Penn High School, founded AKT Now Tutoring, an initiative serving students throughout the South Bend–Mishawaka–Elkhart area. Its mission is to provide affordable and effective tutoring that strengthens academic performance while helping students feel more confident in their abilities.
What began as a commitment to helping individual students has grown into a personalized tutoring service supporting learners from elementary school through high school. By adjusting each session to a student’s learning style, strengths, and areas for improvement, AKT Now Tutoring makes difficult concepts easier to understand and helps students develop skills they can continue using independently.
The initiative’s impact can often be seen within just a few weeks. Students have reported noticeable improvements in their grades, comprehension, and classroom performance, including grade increases within as little as two weeks. These results demonstrate how focused instruction and consistent encouragement can quickly change a student’s relationship with a challenging subject.
Its influence extends beyond grades alone. Parents and students have consistently shared positive feedback describing increased confidence, stronger understanding, and a greater willingness to participate in class. By creating a patient and supportive learning environment, AKT Now Tutoring helps students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through difficult material without embarrassment.
As the initiative continues to grow, it remains committed to serving students across a wide range of grade levels and academic needs. Each tutoring session is designed not only to address immediate assignments or exams, but also to build stronger study habits, problem-solving abilities, and long-term academic independence.
